STILL HERE: Celebrating our Local African Talent of Tāmaki

In celebration of Africa Month, we collaborated with local photographer and long time friend of PL Synthia Bahati. Together we worked on a portrait series that highlighted some local African creatives in Tāmaki Makaurau for Ensemble Magazine.


"It was important for me to do this project as a reminder to myself as to why I started photographing my community but to also continue to talk about my community in spaces that don't often acknowledge or recognise their presence...The title "Still Here" has many layers to it. It’s a reminder that we are here and we will continue to be and we have been. Been making, been present, been contributing, making space and looking good while doing so."
